July 23, 2008 - Assembly Member Caballero: “Action Needed NOW to Fix California’s Water Crisis”

SACRAMENTO – Assembly Member Anna Caballero (D-28th AD) today issued the following statement following the rally by the Latino Water Coalition, Gov. Schwarzenegger, local officials, labor representatives and others on the need for a solution to California’s ongoing water shortages.

“Water security is critical to the economic health of our state. But today we all face tremendous insecurity about our water supplies and water quality. California is getting hotter and drier. Farm workers in my district are facing layoffs and farmers are plowing over fields because there’s not enough water to produce the crops that we all need.

“We can’t afford to wait. Californians are suffering. Jobs, our economy and the well-being of every Californian depend upon clean, reliable water.

We need to pass a bond quickly, to protect the Delta from further decline, and secure reliable water supply for our state.”
