Since the committee did not have the necessary votes to get the proposal out of the subcommittee, Asm. Caballero was replaced by Assembly Member Bob Blumenfield (D-40) who supported the increase and successfully passed it out of committee.

Legislature Approves Home Tax Credit For New and Existing Homes
| |Date:March 22, 2010(Sacramento) – AB 183(Caballero): An extension of the Homebuyers Tax Credit was passed today by the Legislature to re-establish the state tax credit that expired earlier this year. The bill would allocate an additional $200 million in income tax credits to homebuyers who purchase a home to use as their principal place of residence, between May 1, 2010 and August 1, 2011. AB 183 allocates $100 million in income tax credits to purchasers of previously unoccupied or new homes and $100 million to first time homebuyers purchasing existing homes.
